About Us
Our Practice
Conveniently located on Railway Parade, right next to the Kiama Library, our practice offers easy access and a welcoming environment. There is two-hour on-street parking directly opposite, with additional parking available in the car park behind the library.
We’ve created a calm and relaxing space designed to ease any anxiety you may feel about visiting the dentist. Our soothing décor is inspired by the ocean that surrounds our beautiful coastal town. Our walls feature stunning local photography by
Belinda Doyle, whose images also appear throughout our website. We use pure essential oils known for their calming and soothing benefits, and play gentle background music to help you feel at ease from the moment you arrive.
John grew up in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney. After graduating, he began his career in a busy Sydney practice, where he gained broad experience in all areas of general dentistry before becoming a partner.
In 2005, John and his wife Rebecca moved to the Southern Highlands, where they established and successfully ran Bowral Street Dental Practice for over a decade. In 2017, the family relocated to the United Kingdom to care for Rebecca’s elderly parents. While in the UK, John continued to expand his professional experience, practising in the picturesque Cotswolds. Upon returning to Australia, John and Rebecca were delighted to take over Professor Keith Lester’s Kiama practice following his retirement.
John is well known for his gentle, caring approach and his commitment to building long-term relationships with patients—many of whom have followed him throughout his career. Passionate about delivering high-quality, modern dental care, he regularly updates his knowledge through ongoing professional education, including the International Academy for the Advancement of Dentistry’s Comprehensive Implant Course.
He has a particular interest in digital dentistry, especially the use of 3D scanning technology and digital radiography to provide accurate, comfortable, and efficient treatment options for his patients. Outside the clinic, John enjoys the South Coast lifestyle. You’ll often find him kayaking on the Minnamurra or Kangaroo Rivers, skiing in the Snowy Mountains, playing golf or following all things rugby.

Our Approach
We believe good oral health is fundamental to overall health and well-being. That’s why our focus is on providing the gentlest of care in a calm and relaxing environment. We understand that visiting the dentist can sometimes cause anxiety, so we take the time to listen, reassure and make every visit as comfortable as possible.
As an independent practice, we are not directed or controlled by health funds. Instead, our commitment is always to you. As members of the Australian Dental Association, we follow their Code of Ethics, which puts patients first.
We’re proud of the long-lasting relationships we’ve built with our patients and the trust placed in us across generations. For us, dentistry is not just about healthy smiles – it’s about caring for people and supporting their well-being at every stage of life.
